At what time should I take PRUNELAX®?

Prunelax® works in 8 to 12 hours. To experience results at home, we recommend to take Prunelax at night.

How long can I take PRUNELAX® for?

In order to treat occasional constipation, Prunelax® can be used for up to 7 consecutive days.

Please note, prolonged use of laxatives may cause serious bowel problems. If symptoms persist, talk to your health professional.

PRUNELAX® and Diabetes

PRUNELAX® TABLETS is safe for diabetics.
PRUNELAX® Prunelax Smooth Laxative contains honey, so it is not recommended for diabetics.

PRUNELAX® during Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

The active ingredient in Prunelax is Senna. Senna is classified as a Category A medicine on the Australian Prescribing medicines in pregnancy database.

Category A: Drugs which have been taken by a large number of pregnant women and women of childbearing age without any proven increase in the frequency of malformations or other direct or indirect harmful effects on the fetus having been observed.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please seek the advice of your healthcare professional before taking Prunelax.

Can PRUNELAX® lead to dependence?

Dependence is a process that involves brain structures. PRUNELAX® isn’t absorbed into the bloodstream, so it cannot reach the brain and create dependency.
